4 Points Motif with Pattern

I love the traditional Granny Square motif. It's versatile, quick and easy. There are hundreds of projects that can be made with just the Granny Square. Purses, market bags, beach bags, blankets, sweaters, pants, shirts, shorts. Tablecloths, doilies, pot holders, hot pads, toys ... well, the list is seemingly endless .  But I used to wonder, am I the only one that gets bored with that old stand-by pattern? While familiar and easily done while watching TV, that old pattern can get ... old. When I finally got "connected" with the internet (ie: learned how to surf the web) I discovered hexagons, octagons, triangles and pretty squares with flowers and animals in the center. So now, here I am, a few (a lot) of years later and I have a smörgåsbord of Granny Squares to choose from for almost any project I want to complete. How great is that? Let me add my take on a non-traditional Granny Square that looks like it might end up as a pillow/bag/sweater project. I haven't...

My husband tells me that I collect all kinds of " junk ".  And he isn't wrong in that. I have bit and bobs of all sorts lying about. A sandwich bag full of soda can tabs, a stash of cardboard from all sorts of places (such as dividers from a new blender box). My desk has a cubby filled with paper clips, twist ties, the foil from Hershey's Kisses and various chewing gums. So when he says that I collect all sorts of " junk " he's only looking at it with the eye of a non-crafter. I see inside my " junk ". That's right, to the very soul of the object and that soul cries out to me. It says things like "I'm really a necklace just waiting to be put together" or it might just whimper "I'm beautiful, I'm beautiful, I'm beautiful". What ever may come out of said objects' nonexistent mouth, I am the one listening. And I am the one creating. Today I heard the cries from an object that may have gone on to c...
