Finger Puppet Crochet Pattern
I took a much needed break from blogging over this holiday season, not because I hate blogging but because I was feeling stagnant. You ever get in a slump like that? Rather than churn out chum and make a big mess I decided to just take a few weeks off and recharge.
Siren: (use E/4 3.50 MM hook)

And now I'm back! This week I have a free finger puppet pattern for you to look at and I fell in love with these guys straight away. They're just too stinking cute!
Grab a hook and lets get started:
Materials:
- small amounts of yellow, red, black and blue yarn
- size G/6 4.25 MM and E/4 3.50 MM crochet hooks
- teeny buttons for eyes (or you could embroider them but I don't have directions for that)
- E-6000 craft glue
- scissors
- yarn needle
Stitches used:
- Magic Circle (MC)
- Chain (ch)
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
- Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Row 1: Begin by making a MC, ch 2 (counts as first hdc), make 7 more hdc in MC. Join to top of the first hdc with a sl st. Ch 1. (8 hdc)
Row 2: 2 hdc in each stitch around. Join to top of first hdc. ch 1. (16 hdc)
Rows 3 - 4: 1 hdc in each stitch around. Join to top of first hdc. Ch 1. (16 hdc in each row)
Change to blue yarn
Rows 5 - 6: 1 hdc in each stitch around. Join to top of first hdc. Ch 1. (16 hdc in each row)
Tie off and weave in the ends.
Eyes:
Glue the teeny black button to the center of the white button. Allow 10 minutes drying time before attaching to the puppet. I glued mine on side by side or in the case of the one-eyed guy, just in the center of where his face will be.
Mouth:
Use the yarn needle to make a mouth with the black yarn. Weave in the ends.
Hair: (optional)
Take 3 stands of black yarn approximately 4" long and tie a knot in one end. Using the yarn needle thread all three stands of "hair" into the needle and go through the center of the Magic Circle. Use a small dab of glue at the top to hold the "hair" in place.
Siren: (use E/4 3.50 MM hook)
Top Light
Row 1: Using red yarn make a MC and ch 2 (counts as first hdc), hdc 5 more times in circle, cinch tight. (6 hdc)
Row 2: 1 hdc in each stitch around. Tie off and leave a long tail.
Use the long tail to sew the siren to the top of the puppet head.
Side Light (make 2)
MC and ch 2. Hdc 5 more times in circle. Cinch tight and tie off leaving a long tail.
Side Light (make 2)
MC and ch 2. Hdc 5 more times in circle. Cinch tight and tie off leaving a long tail.
Use the tail to sew the side lights to the side of the puppet head.
NOTE: You can choose to glue on the Siren and Side Lights instead of sewing.
And there you have some adorable finger puppets for the kids to play with. Of course, some adults might like them as well!
Have a great week and Happy New Year!
Peace and blessings,
~~Karen~~
