Pattern Review: Crochet Super Star Afghan

Image
Have I mentioned that there are a LOT of new babies coming into the world around me? Well, if not, now you know. I wanted to make something a bit different this time around. It's not THAT different I mean it's still a blanket, but instead of a square, I made the Super Star Afghan from Mikey and the guys over at The Crochet Crowd! Here's my score for the pattern overall: Written Pattern Score : 4.5 out of 5 due to a mistake in Row 3. Video Pattern Score : 5 out of 5 - This one is a home run! App Review

>_> Anyway!... Yeah, you read right. I decided to do an app review! It's for an app called Feed Baby Pro. All of that stuff that Karen said during her book review about being painfully honest etc. It applies here, too ;) So! Feed Baby Pro is pretty phenomenal. You have a feeding entry. You can also add bottle feedings - how many ml or oz and how long it took baby to finish. AND you can add little notes along the way like "Paused to relatch" or "Paused to burp". Wait wait! It gets better. You can add solid foods. You can keep track of diapers - wet, bowel movement, both. You can keep track of growth, keep journals about baths, ...

I've had this particular book for a couple of years ( *looks at calendar* oh, more like 10 years) and I've dabbled with it some (nothing past Chapter One, mind you) and I decided to pull it back out. Literally, PULL it back out from the darkest recesses of my closet floor. You know what I'm talking about. That corner where our "oh-my-goodness-I-can't-stand-to-work-on-this-thing-anyMORE!" goes. Yup, I knew you knew what I was talking about. After I straightened out the curled up corners and removed the 7 layers of dust from the cover, I sighed. You know it well, sigh with me, that sound of determined resignation that threatens,  "Either I'm gonna win . . . or I'm pitching you in the trash." I do believe this thing is destined to live at the landfill. As you know, if you've read this blog even once, I am a crocheter . I prefer crochet. I like one hook over two needles. One hand free to manipulate the yarn the way it was meant to ...
