Mouse Inspired!

Now that I'm back home from an extended stay in Florida (I miss the warmth!) I wanted to share one of the things I made while I was away.

I have a friend that's attending a baby shower and she wanted an out-of-the-box gift and asked me to make her something special. This is what I came up with.

Now you can find patterns (for free and paid) that offer instructions on how to make an outfit like this one, however, I used a combination of a couple different patterns.

For the white diaper cover:
I used Worlds BEST Diaper Cover by Boomer Beanies, available on Ravelry. This pattern has a charge of $4.99 USD. It is, in my opinion, the BEST diaper cover I've ever used.

The tail is of my own making and is simply a chain of 35; SC in second chain from hook and slip stitch the remaining chains. It's tied onto the back, 11th row from the top.

For the red skirt:
I used a pattern I found on Ravelry (for free) but I made more rows than the pattern calls for. It's called Minnie Little Mouse by Knotty Knotty Crochet. The scalloped edging gives it an extra girly touch which is what caught my eye.

There were no instructions for fastening with the pattern so I just used a couple of buttons and added button holes along the second row of the waistline.

For the hat:

I used Bev's Country Cottage hat sizes to make a hat for a newborn and added my own ears.

Here's my pattern for the ears: Make 4
With black and a size G/4.25MM crochet hook

1. Magic circle, 8 HDC in circle. Pull tight.
2. 2 HDC in each stitch around. Place tail along edge and work over it.
3. 1 HDC in first, 2 HDC in next. Repeat around continuing to work over tail until it's covered.
4. 1 HDC in next 2 stitches, 2 HDC in next. Repeat around.
5. 1 HDC in next 3 stitches, 2 HDC in next. Repeat around.

Place two circles, wrong sides touching, and stitch together. Sew onto the hat.

For the bow, I followed the directions from Knotty Knotty Crochet's pattern.

For the shoes:
Again, I used Knotty Knotty Crochet's pattern for the shoes and I LOVE them! They're so stinking small and cute! How can you NOT like them?

So, that's one of the things I did while I was away. Some of my projects are already on the blog as well as a couple of reviews for ScrubIt! Yarn. (No, I'm not compensated by Mary Maxim, I just LOVE this yarn!).

Have a great crafty week!
Peace and blessings,
~~Karen~~
