Luscious Lips Crochet Pattern

Okay, so I ran across this on Pinterest and thought I'd make one for this blog post instead of another heart. I know hearts scream VALENTINE'S DAY but there are soooo maannyy hearts out there. Now bear in mind this is not my original pattern. If you have Pinterest and can see that link you'll immediately notice that it's in Russian or Korean (or something ... I know someone that can read that is laughing at me ^_^). And while I don't read any language other than English I can (on a good day) understand charts.

This is my interpretation of the chart available here

Pucker Up!

Luscious Lips Crochet Pattern

Materials: I used ...
You can always use your own choice and colors of yarn just be sure to use the recommended hook size shown on the yarn label. Unsure how to read a label? Click here!

Gauge is unimportant to this project.

Stitches Used:
  • Chain (ch)
  • Single Crochet (sc)
  • Half Double Crochet (hdc)
  • Double Crochet (dc)
  • Treble (triple) Crochet (tr)
  • Slip Stitch (sl st)

Begin Pattern:
Chain 15
1 sc in second chain from hook
1 hdc in next
1 dc in next
2 tr in next stitch
1 dc in next
1 hdc in next
1 sc in next (this is the middle of the upper lip)
1 hdc in next
1 dc in next
2 tr in next
1 dc in next
1 hdc in next
1 sc in next
sl st in next
ch 1 (chart doesn't have this, I added it to make the corners of the mouth less rounded)

Working on back side of the starting chain:
1 sc in next
1 hdc in next two stitches
1 dc in next two stitches
1 tr in next
3 tr in next stitch (this creates the thickest part of the bottom lip)
1 tr in next
1 dc in next two stitches
1 hdc in next two stitches
1 sc, ch 1, sl st in same stitch (ch 1 added by me)

Tie off and weave in ends.

You know what? This could very easily be adapted to another bookmark, just saying.
Happy Valentine's Day!
