My Busy Crochet World ...

Image
This is what I've been up to for the past couple of weeks! This is a baby blanket for a friend at church. It's just a simple granny square made with Bernat Baby Blanket yarn. She's due in 3 weeks! I thought I was finished, but when I pulled this piece out for the pic, guess what? That's right. NOT finished! My husband is going to kill me when he finds out - I'm supposed to give it to her on Sunday. Another trip to Hobby Lobby for more yarn . . . that's worth death to any die-hard hooker. Lol. ARGH! Oh, well. It won't take long too finish and I've already got the gift bag, so if I had to, I could finish it Sunday morning. Early Sunday morning . . . *sigh* This granny square blanket is going to be given to another friend from church. She's not expecting though. She tripped over her dog going down some steps and broke her leg in three places. So she's going to be out of commission for a few months. I just need to get this to her w...

Granny Swap, Anyone?

Image
Here's what's happening in my world at the moment: Christmas Gifts - always top of the list at this time of year. There are only 124 days until Christmas folks! Hats for the homeless shelter/Cancer center - this is an on-going project for me. When I have a spare day (those are few and far between here recently) I try to make a hat or a scarf to donate. I actually have several hats waiting for transportation to the Cancer Center as I type. Granny Square Swap - and now we get to the subject of the day! I think I've fallen in love with this swap thing . . .  Candy Lifshes from  +Meladora's Creations for Crochet has a Facebook page that spawned an idea that has taken on a life of it's own. One little mention of a Granny Square Swap and it was like a bunch of cats after a ball of yarn! Hookers from all over the place are jumping on this project. Canada, Wisconsin, United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa, Indiana, West Virginia . . . you name it and there'...

A Blanket pattern and a Challenge!

Image
So I've finished one blanket for my soon-to-be-here grand-baby. A simple pattern that works up quick and looks great. I love the lacy feel and how delicate it looks, especially in the Baby Ombre color from Bernet . Here's a quick rundown of the pattern I used, I kinda made it up as I went so errors may be rampant! LoL Pattern: (using a size G/4.25mm hook) Row 1 : Chain 113, Single Crochet in second chain from hook and across. Chain 3 and turn. Row 2 : Double Crochet, chain 2, Double Crochet in the next stitch. (V-stitch). Skip 2 stitches, repeat V-stitch in next stitch. *Skip 2 stitches, repeat V-stitch in next stitch.* Repeat from * to * across, ending with Double Crochet in last stitch. Chain 3 and turn. Rows 4-? : Repeat Row 2 until blanket reaches desired length. Chain 1 and turn. Last Row : Single Crochet in each stitch across. Leave yarn attached for trim <OR> if you're changing colors, tie off and weave in ends. Trim (if using a different color...

Corner-to-Corner

So, here recently, I've been seeing people post about their "c2c" project. I was thinking to myself "what the heck is that?" but do I ever say that out loud. Well, no. I was telling everyone posting "Good Luck!" I finally decided to look up a pattern (and video, I love videos). Let me say something, once I got the hang of it, I now have a better understanding of why everyone was so ga-ga over this pattern. It's fantastic! Quick, easy and looks great. Here's a pic of what I'm working on, and if you can't tell it's a baby blanket. I'm going to give it to my oldest daughter for my first grand-baby. (Yay!)  There's only 6 rows so far. After I started this one I went bowling with a group of friends and then had a doctors appointment this morning, so I'll be back at it after I'm finished with this post. Links to the pattern and video I used are below the pics. Have a great week, and please don't forget; wint...

Cluster Stitch Scarf with Pattern

Image
Well, I'm back home and out of the land of sunshine. I do have to admit that we had a lot of rain while I was in Florida but the last 10 days or so were beautiful. My sisters are healthy and look wonderful, just like always. My mother and I spent several hours crocheting and talking and laughing. And the Scattergories game got used over and over. It was a great vacation and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Hopefully, I can do it again next summer. Here's a quick and simple pattern for you to start using since the cold weather will be here sooner than we expect. A scarf using clusters and double crochets that works up fast and looks great!
