Planning for Baby ...

Image
Hello there fellow crocheters! This past week has been a whirlwind of texts between my expectant daughter and me. And I've started 3 additional projects! I must be crazy! Lol.  I found this pattern by Michele Wilcox when I was looking around for baby blankets. And, while I have seen it before, I decided it's time to start making one. But I want to make it a bit different. Personalization of gifted items is a must for me. Don't you think it's a better gift if you can make it specific to the person that's receiving it? Here's a pic of what I plan to put on the one I'm making. Notice I said "plan". This might be a bit ambitious but I do have about 7 months to get it completed. The cat and pig are a must for this blanket. Those are my daughters' favorite animals. Her boyfriend wanted a unicorn and a dragon added to it. Hmmm .... let me think .... if there were unicorns and dragons on the ark they wouldn't be classified "mythical c...

Nana? Me? I HAVE NEWS!

So on Sunday, Father's Day, we went to church, had a nice lunch with the kids and promptly sent them away for the week. Nothing drastic mind you, they went to Knoxville, Tn, for mission work with the youth group. They'll be home tomorrow with all their stories and how much fun they had. I'm really looking forward to it. Being a mom is one of the greatest joys of my life. My children are the BEST kids in the entire world! Aren't they all? My oldest lives in Berea, Ky. Her birthday is tomorrow and she'll be 22. Wow! It really doesn't feel like she should be 22 years old! Is that her news? I bet that's what you're thinking .... well NO! It isn't. My daughter getting another year older is probably news for her but not for you guys. Are you ready? I'm going to be a GRANDMOTHER !!!!!! * photo from Google images * Let me admit something right now .... I'm too young to be "Mamaw". That's what I called my grandmothers. ...

Simple Cluster Stitch Panel with Pattern

It's just June and already this summer has been filled with activity! Last Saturday, my husband and I attended our third wedding in just four weeks time. That was one Saturday off to do things around the house, like weed and mulch the flower and herb garden. I still need to tackle the rose bushes and our abundant blackberry patch but at least we got that much accomplished. I'm crossing my fingers that before cold weather sets in, we'll have enough time to get the carpets cleaned. Never fear though, being as addicted as I am to my hook and yarn, I have still found time to crochet! Seriously, I carry it with me almost everywhere I go. Hubby threatened no more trips to Hobby Lobby if I even thought of taking it to the weddings so I did have to leave it home for those outings. Lol. I still crochet in church though; no better way to get a blessing over my projects if you ask me. This week I have a pattern for you that can be adapted pretty easily for anything that's fla...

Modified No-chain Starting Double Crochet

So, this week I’m trying something different. I want to make some videos for my mother (who lives over 900 miles from me) so she can learn some of the tricks I’ve picked up along the way. Mostly shortcuts that make some stitches easier and others that just make the stitches look better. Most of them I’m sure you guys already know. This video is one of those tricks. I picked it up on the internet, and much to my chagrin, I can’t remember where I learned it. I didn’t save the link so I’m lost as to the site name. If someone knows where that might be, please, comment below and provide the link or the site name. That would be very much appreciated! Along with not being able to remember the link/site, I can’t remember what she called it! But it needs a name, right? I think I’ll call it a Modified No-chain Starting Double Crochet . I know it’s a mouthful but that’s what it is. Previously I’d tried to make some videos using one of my kids as a cameraman (riiiight) and that didn’t turn o...
